    As an adjunct professor at Pace University, teaching an undergraduate class titled Writing for the Electronic Media. Bringing a decade+ of journalism experience to the classroom to teach about news writing, editing, photography, podcasting, and broadcast television. (Sept. 2022-present)

  • National digital journalism start-up leader | WhereBy.Us

    Because of my success at The Incline, promoted to Editorial and Growth Director to lead a team of entrepreneurial, hyperlocal journalists at news websites across the country (in Pittsburgh, Seattle, Portland, Miami, and Orlando). Oversaw and edited every article, newsletter, and social media post in all five cities reaching more than 80,000 readers every day while training, coaching, and growing the team.

    In addition to my editorial duties, directed membership models in each city, along with subscriber growth, reader engagement, and strategic marketing initiatives. (Aug. 2020-June 2021)

  • Local journalism start-up writer, editor | The Incline

    Recruited as Food & Culture editor for a new digital journalism start-up in Pittsburgh. Wrote articles and newsletters with wit, sass, and sparkle about topics the bigger outlets weren’t covering, leading to several viral stories, including one that garnered more than 150,000 pageviews. Also covered breaking news, including the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, protests for racial justice after the police shooting of an unarmed Black teen, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Promoted to lead the entire publication as Director after less than two years, where I shepherded the site through a complex media acquisition. Grew Instagram followers 53 percent, paid memberships 50 percent, and newsletter subscribers 8 percent to a list of nearly 15,000 with a 25%+ open rate. (June 2017-Aug. 2020)

  • Nonprofit marketing maven | Carnegie Science Center

    Marketed Pittsburgh’s most-visited museum through writing and editing newsletters, museum magazines, brochures, news releases, ads, and social media.

    Within one year, grew the museum’s Twitter following by 40 percent and Facebook following by 43 percent.

    Within two years, promoted from marketing manager to to assistant director of the department and served on The Emerging Strategic Leadership Alliance at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, a group of young leaders who guided the museum president. (April 2014-June 2017)

    Reported on education, municipal government, crime, courts, breaking news, Marcellus shale drilling, and community features for daily and weekly newspapers in suburban Pittsburgh.

    Employed database journalism to cover Census trends, contribute to a statewide AP project, and complete an investigation into teacher absences. (May 2010-March 2014)
